HEMET, CA – On 04-10-2021 at 12:25 am, Hemet Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a carport on fire at the Amberwood Apartments at 2040 W Acacia Ave.

Arriving crews located a fully involved box truck parked in a carport area. The fire from the truck was rapidly spreading to the carport structure, a second box truck and was threatening the adjacent apartment complex.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack on the fire and achieved knockdown in about 15 to 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. A good samaritan who assisted in evacuating residents noticed a suspicious vehicle and reported a possible arsonist to police. It’s unknown at this time if any suspects have been taken into custody or are being investigated.
