Murrieta Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on Sweet Magnolia Way.

The suspect was threatening police and was refusing to surrender, barricading himself inside the residence.

Officers evacuated residents of the homes in the vicinity of the incident and closed off Sweet Magnolia Way in both directions as a standoff ensued.

The barricade lasted for about two hours before the suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Paramedics provided aid to an elderly woman, resident of the area, that was feeling ill after being evacuated and due to the intense situation.

The suspect’s motive or other details surrounding the incident are unknown at this time. Detectives are working the scene and searching the residence and the investigation is ongoing.

This information was confirmed with Murrieta PD watch commander who did state that officers responded to a call of shots fired from the residence. The suspect refused to give up until 2 hours later when he surrendered. No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.
